Our Journey of Compassion Transforming Lives of Children Our mission began with a profound moment of realization on the streets, where children were begging or accompanying their parents to harsh work environments like construction sites, sugarcane farms, and brick-making facilities. These children came from migrant families constantly moving in search of work, surviving on the margins of society, visibly lacking basic necessities of safety, hygiene, and healthcare. Motivated by an unwavering commitment to change, we started our journey with a simple yet powerful approach - providing nourishing, home-cooked meals. This strategy was more than just about feeding hungry children. It was about building trust – the fundamental cornerstone of meaningful transformation. Our consistent efforts gradually earned the trust of more than 1500 children from the community from inception. Many came from deeply challenging backgrounds – some with single parents or families with complex social histories.
We rescue and support abandoned children, providing them with shelter, education, healthcare, and a safe, nurturing environment to thrive.

Ambadas Chavan’s journey of compassion began in 2003 when, at just 21 years old and fresh out of high school, he volunteered with an NGO. Coming from a modest background, his early experiences ignited a deep resolve to serve marginalized communities. While pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work, Ambadas played an instrumental role in establishing several volunteer organizations.
His work with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 2015 became the catalyst for founding Caring Hands, an organization dedicated to uplifting tribal and nomadic populations in Ahmednagar and beyond. Witnessing the harsh realities faced by these communities, he envisioned a structured and methodical approach to drive sustainable change.
Under his leadership, Caring Hands has launched numerous impactful projects, each aimed at supporting the most vulnerable members of society. Ambadas Chavan’s visionary efforts and unwavering dedication have been the guiding force behind the organization, inspiring others to join the mission of creating a better future for all.

We both had a very strong desire to give back to the society and mainly contribute in the field of education for underprivileged kids. Luckily we got in touch with the Caring Hands Organization in the year 2020 and since then we became part of the family. We founded an organization: “Hands for Caring Hands” in the USA along with two other like minded friends . We not only contribute in terms of fundraising but also try to value add in growing CSR associations, and building web presence and try to spend more time with the kids during our India visits. This gives us immense satisfaction and unparalleled joy and happiness!
We have been nurturing hope and empowering vulnerable children, women, and elderly to rewrite their destinies.

Today, I am happily spending my days weaving and knitting, selling my crafts to visitors. I've found more than just a shelter – I've discovered a family of over 100 children who lovingly call me Aaji. Kalashram has given me purpose, respect, and a home for my remaining years.
I am Minakshi (Name is changed to protect privacy). My life has been a journey of survival and courage. At just 16, I entered into a love marriage, which resulted in my maternal family disowning me. We moved to my husband's village in Uttar Pradesh, where I gave birth to a daughter and then a son. To support our growing family, I worked alongside my husband at construction sites. However, my life took a traumatic turn when my father-in-law began persistently abusing me, even proposing that I marry his younger son. Shockingly, my husband supported his father's stance. Forced to leave from there, I came to Pune and discovered Caring Hands in Wagholi. For over two years, they provided me and my children with shelter, protection, and security. Later, I moved to Mumbai and remarried, but my new husband didn't want my children. I placed my three children – an 11-year-old daughter and two sons aged 8 and 5 – in Caring Hands' Kalashram project in Talegaon Dabhade. During their visit to home in summer vacation, my husband violently abused the children. The most devastating incident occurred when the hostel rector informed me that my husband had sexually assaulted my daughter and she was terrified. Caring Hands immediately took action, lodging a police complaint. My husband was arrested and imprisoned. The organization's support was unwavering. They cared for my daughter during her illness and ensured her case was presented to the Child Welfare Committee, which subsequently placed her in a government children's home. Abandoned and homeless once again, I returned to Caring Hands. This organization became my sanctuary, offering not just shelter, but hope and rehabilitation. Today, I am rebuilding my life. I'm training to join the kitchen team, eager to support other vulnerable children. My journey with Caring Hands represents more than survival – it's about transformation, resilience, and the power of compassionate support.
